About me
Science has always been my thing. Though I could never decide whether that’s as a researcher, science communicator or science educator.
I obtained a PhD in artificial intelligence, studying the use of Bayesian networks in legal reasoning. Before that, I worked as an educational developer at a company, where we also organised an annual science festival. I currently work as a teacher and curriculum developer at the university of Groningen. In my spare time, I sometimes write popular science stuff, like blogs or a chapter in a book.
Science Communication
I have written for various (online) magazines and books, see e.g. Science Palooza, and Nederland in Ideeën.
A selection of three posts:
- Redeneren met scenarios (Nederland in Ideeën)
- Flamenco, flamenco (Science Palooza)
- De magie van de p-waarde (Science Palooza, Volkskrant)
Science Education
I work as a curriculum developer at the University of Groningen, concerning the programmes in mathematics, computing science and artificial intelligence. Are you a teacher at the University of Groningen in one of these programmes and do you want to talk? Contact me at c.s.vlek[at]rug.nl.
